Lindsay Hopkins focuses her practice on patent prosecution in the areas of electrical and computer technology, lasers, medical devices and telecommunications. She also practices in the areas of trademarks and licensing. Ms. Hopkins further practices in patent and trademark litigation including drafting court filings, performing witness interviews and preparing mediation materials. She works with entities ranging from sole inventors to large corporations in the domestic and international protection of their patents and trademarks.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Hopkins worked as an associate at a law firm in Concord, Massachusetts.
While attending law school, Ms. Hopkins served as an intern within the Global Legal Center for The Coca-Cola Company. She researched and wrote legal memoranda and executive summaries on various topics including licensing, trademark, bankruptcy and Uniform Commercial Code. Ms. Hopkins also assisted in the collaboration with outside counsel on international patent matters and coordinated assignments with a bankruptcy matter. In addition, she served in a team project presenting patent, trademark, Global Legal Center and Coca-Cola North America Foodservice Customer considerations associated with a hypothetical creation and placement of a new beverage in the consumer market. Ms. Hopkins also led her team to develop a template for submission to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for use in monitoring importation of infringing goods from overseas.
Ms. Hopkins’ senior thesis was titled Computer Modeling of Laser Welding of Bovine Cartilage, in which she developed a computer program to replicate stress and pressure expected in the knee joints of humans. The program calculated thermodynamic effects of laser welding on tissue samples based upon variables, such as thickness of the samples and the presence of particular adhesives. In addition, Ms. Hopkins performed research at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
